HVAC Accessories

Terry’s A/C & Heating can help you access additional safety, air quality, thermostats and more to add-on to your current HVAC system. We personally field test these products in our own home to test how they work before we offer them to our customers.

Thermostats

The technology for smart thermostats are getting more sophisticated every day. Many are able to learn your habits from the times you typically turn the temperature up or down and can learn to be more efficient. We can recommend a variety of products that are compatible with nearly any system you have to optimize the efficiency of your air conditioning and heating system.

Carrier Infinity® Remote Access Touch Control Thermostat – The Infinity line of thermostats are Carrier’s top-of-the-line WiFi, remote access, 7-day programmable thermostat. It is like a mini-computer for your system and is designed to maximize energy efficiency and your comfort. It can tell you how much energy your system used for the day and how much it cost you and what you can do to save energy. It can send you notifications when filters need to be replaced and even let you know when it is time for service.

Ecobee Wi-Fi Thermostat – These smart thermostats can maximize your HVAC unit’s efficiency and comfort, and they are simple to set up. It’s no surprise they are Energy Star-certified.

Côr™ WiFi Thermostat – Manage your thermostat from your phone or computer to keep close tabs on energy efficiency. If your HVAC system is functioning poorly, it can inform you and A/C Contractor via email before you have a system breakdown. Homeowners saved an average of 20% on their heating and cooling energy costs.

Carrier Performance™ Series Thermostats – This line of thermostats are slim, stylish and easy-to-read and effectively manage the temperature and humidity in your home. They come in programmable and unprogrammable models.

Leak Prevention

Terry’s Lifetime Drain Pan – Because of our long warm season, air conditioning units in our area work hard at removing the humidity from the air to keep us cool. Because of this environment, drain pans that capture this water can tend to rust, which is a hassle to fix when trying to complete a home inspection or selling your home. If you purchase our lifetime drain pan, we guarantee you will never have a rusty drain pan again. We rubberize the drain pan to eliminate rust causing a mess in your home. If it ever rusts, we will replace it at no charge to you. Note: We include these lifetime drain pans in all of our new HVAC installations.

All Access Device – This device allows for easy access to clear and maintain HVAC condensate drain lines, which can become clogged in the summer. It blocks the flow in the opposite direction making is easier to vacuum or blow out the clogged line.

Aqua Guard Float Switch – This float switch we call the “ceiling saver” because it shuts off your air conditioning if your drain pan is about to overflow because your HVAC condensate drain line becomes stopped up. Often drain pans are installed in the ceiling and when they overflow, water can leak through the ceiling. This handy device literally saves your ceiling until help arrives.

HVAC accessories such as a REME Halo UV Lights and air purification system installed

Terry’s A/C & Heating Owner Rob Terry demonstrates the REME HALO In-Duct Air Purifier, which became especially popular during the pandemic.

Indoor Air Purification

Are allergies or respiratory illnesses a concern for your family? We can help you with specialty filtering systems to help you ensure your indoor environment is a respite from mold, pollen and other common allergens. Many of these systems are recommended by the American Lung Association. Whether you need UV lights or whole home air purification system, we have many options for any budget to ensure the indoor air quality is top-notch.

REME HALO® In-duct Air Purifier – This system is the top of the line purification system and designed to actively clean the air throughout your home or office. It is located within our duct system and it sends Hydro-Peroxide plasma to eliminate 99% of bacteria, viruses and mold and 85% of gasses and odors. This type of system is used by the homeowners, government, schools, hospitals, restaurants, and more to clean air and eliminate sick building syndrome.

Global Plasma Solutions 2400-3 Residential Air Purifier – This air cleaning system emits patented technology that produces the same ions naturally found in the atmosphere that eliminate odors, pathogens like mold, viruses, and germs, and filters out dust, pollen and other pollutants.

Infinity® Series Air Purifier – This air cleaner system circulates indoor air as many as 8 times in an hour. Its unique Captures and Kills™ technology kills or inactivates 99% of trapped viruses, germs, pollen, mold, and bacterial. It features a long-life MERV 15 filter.

Air Knight UV Lights – This ultraviolet lamp keeps your indoor coil cleaner which improves indoor air quality in your home. It inhibits fungus and microbial growth and is nearly maintenance free.

TopTech Ultraviolet Germicidal Lights – This UV light system keeps the indoor coil and equipment clean from slime, algae, viruses, and pollen, which improves air quality and can keep the condenser drain light clear.

Media Filter – This media air cleaner (which is different from the standard filters in your indoor air return) offers MERV 7-11 rated filtration which removes dust, pollen, and other airborne contaminants while maintaining optimal air flow to your HVAC system so it functions properly.

Safety Alarms

HVAC equipment manufacturers are adding more safety measures to furnaces, air conditioners, and heat pumps than ever before. But we still find homes we service without functional smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.  These inexpensive devices add an extra layer of safety, and we include them in all our new HVAC installations if homes or businesses need them.

In-Duct Smoke Detector – This safety item is installed within an HVAC system and its sole purpose is to shut down the system and the air flow in the event that smoke is detected. This feature protects occupants from being harmed by the HVAC system that could distribute asphyxiating smoke and toxins in the event of a fire. These detectors do not replace traditional smoke alarms throughout a building but they do offer additional protection and precious time in the event of a fire. They are required in every commercial job and some residential codes are starting to require them also.

Carbon Monoxide Alarm – This industrial grade carbon monoxide (CO) alarm will sound a loud horn and pulsating LED did light will warn your family of the presence of CO, so you can move to fresh air. This gas is an invisible, odorless, tasteless, nonirritating, poisonous gas that is virtually undetectable to your senses.

Surge Protectors

One of the most common reasons systems fail is due to equipment that shorts out due to “dirty energy” or power surges. Keep your HVAC equipment and motors running through the dog days of summer by investing in surge protectors. Note: We install surge protectors along with new HVAC installations because we find it keeps equipment in good working order for much longer.

ICM 517 Surge Protector – This Surge protector is designed to protect the entire HVAC unit and controls – including compressors, heat pumps, ECM motors control boards and sensors. It has a 3 year warranty.

Zebra Institute ECM or X13 Surge Protector – Whether your HVAC system has an ECM or X-13 motor, this surge protector can protective your motor and modules from destructive power surges and spikes.

Emerson’s SureSwitch Relay – This switch relay offers another layer of protection to extend the life and consistent operation of your outdoor air conditioning unit’s contactor up to five times longer than the traditional contactor. It provides short cycle protection as well as random start delays and brown out recovery. If your neighborhood has frequent power outages, this relay will shut your air conditioning unit down for 5 minutes allowing your air conditioner to properly “reset” and eliminate electrical-induced, short-term equipment outages. It comes with a 5 year warranty.

Insulation

Energy efficiency is the name of the game to keep you more comfortable indoors. Many times, we see insulation lacking where it is needed most. This is most apparent in attics but it can be other places, too. Ask us if you’d like us to inspect your attic to see if your home or business might benefit from additional blown-in insulation.
