Meet Rosenberg Native Hector Sosa: Terry’s A/C & Heating’s Newest Team Member
Hector Sosa joined Terry’s A/C & Heating’s team earlier this fall. Make sure you say hello to him when you see him riding out with Rob Terry or Kenny Langford. Read more about our staff and our company’s history. And, if we can be of service to your heating and cooling system, please contact us at 281-495-7830 to schedule an appointment.
What is your background and experience?
I was born and raised in Rosenberg, Texas, and I graduated from Wharton County Junior College with two certificates from their Air Conditioning, Heating, Refrigeration, and Electrical Technology program.
One thing that you might not guess about me is that I read articles and documentation about the AC industry in my spare time.
My parents are originally from El Salvador, and our family had a lot of challenges when I was growing up. My little sister’s cancer diagnosis took a toll on my parents and our family in every way possible. I’m glad to say that she is a survivor. This experience is why I am grateful for the opportunity in each new day. Every day is a blessing.
What was the most surprising thing you’ve experienced so far?
When I was in school, we had a major refrigerant leak and we had to evacuate the building. We could hear the leak in the copper wires. It sounded like a high-pitched whistle. Because refrigerant is an oxygen displacer, it can be very dangerous to be around. Our instructor was telling us to get out fast! That was definitely something you don’t get to experience every day.
During my short time so far with Terry’s A/C & Heating, what I really find refreshing is how our company is constantly acting as good stewards of people’s money and time. Not every company puts in the effort to take care of their customers the way I have seen Rob, Kenny, and Summer do.
What do you like most about the job?
I enjoy being part of the Terry’s A/C & Heating team and riding along with Rob Terry, the owner, and Kenny Langford, the senior technician. Right now, there is a lot of learning in the field, figuring out different AC problems and troubleshooting. Sometimes when an air conditioner is broken, it can be baffling at first.
Kenny and Rob are showing me all the ways of diagnosing an HVAC system. There’s always a new problem and then the satisfaction of getting the unit up and running with cold air blowing again. There’s always something different and something new to learn, and I love it when we can help people.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I am a big fan of DIY projects, going for walks, having a good BBQ outdoors, spending time with family and friends, reading, journaling, and attending church.
I like to start my day with a walk outdoors to clear my mind. Some of my favorite parks are George Park in Richmond, Texas and Seaborne Creek Nature Park in Rosenberg, Texas.
And, if time permits, you might find me out fishing on my day off, whether that’s on a local river or at the Gulf.
